In Memoriam

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Gary Nelson, a.k.a. Father Nelson.  He passed away late Friday night.  He is survived by Kristin Nelson and their children.

Funeral arrangements will be made Monday; I will make a further announcement at ACWA.org.

Many of us have a fond memory of Father Nelson.  I'm opening up ACWA.org for everyone to leave comments, even if you're not registered.

I've been chosen by the Board as the new webmaster for ACWA.org.  It is my pleasure to announce that a new version of the website is online.  You can now get your own email address @acwa.org - just ask me.

So, please check it out and let me know what you think: http://acwa.org

Captain's Corner

Thanks again to everyone who came out to Fort Point.  What a great way to start off the new season.  This weekend we've got a one-day event at Benicia.  There is some serious potential here, so please come out and show them that we're a serious club.

Also, Command has already sent out two requests for a head count for Knight's Ferry, so please get me those RSVP's ASAP.

Finally, we've got a few other new events lined up . . . see below.

March Edition

Captain's Corner

The 2012 season has begun!  We had another great event at the Fort.  To those who didn't make it, you were missed.

The good news: we've got a couple events coming up in March, including our first shooting event of the year!  I've got election results below, and some more news.

Ft. Point Edition

2d Winter Edition

Captain's Corner

Greetings one and all, and Erin go braugh!

There are only two weeks left in 2011.  If you get your membership forms in before the new year, the unit gets a bonus!  I'm attaching the new 2012 form.  If you know you're coming back, you really may as well do it now.  I'm attaching the new 2012 form so there's no excuse!

Winter Edition

Captain's Corner

Thanks to everyone who came out to Fresno, I think a good time was had by all. Greetings to our new guy, Brandon, who took the field for the first time.

This marks the end of my first season as captain. We lost a lot of great people, but we got a bunch of new guys who are off to a great start. The reason I keep coming back is because of the great people in the 69th and that has not changed.

The fun's not over. We've got several events coming up, plus elections, and an update on the trailer (see below).

Fresno & More!

Captain's Corner

The second Alcatraz event of the year has come and gone.  As usual, the rangers opened up even more to us, including some Civil War-era casemates and the parade ground.  Also, they shared some salacious new tidbits about the Birdman.

But we've got lots of fun lined up for the rest of the year.  Fresno is the last big ACWA event and it is not to be missed.  This coming weekend is a small event down in Monterey.  I can't make it, but info is attached.  Finally, there's info on two fantastic events in January: the Ball, and Ft. Point!

Alcatraz: Last Call

The Fall Living History Day on Alcatraz will be this coming Saturday, October 1st.

The majority of you on this email list have not received the email notifications that went  out earlier.

My best guess/explanation for this is that when my internet service provider “upgraded” their email program, email addresses (yours) were somehow deleted from the Alcatraz lists.

I apologize for the really, really short notice (I just discovered this about half an hour ago).

If you’re free this Saturday, we’d love to have you out on The Rock.
