We've got a couple last-minute announcements about NC, plus news about the last two events of the year.

Nevada City

We're a week away from the event, have 6 people coming, and only 2/5 meals covered.  Here's the rundown:

Saturday breakfast: No one

Saturday lunch: Self-serve sandwiches courtesy of Cpl. Gatley

Saturday dinner: Kosher hot dogs courtesy of Capt. Koplowicz

Sunday breakfast: No one

Sunday lunch: Maybe we should order pizza?

Captain's Corner

We had a quiet but fun day at Ft. Point.  Drill was run by corporals from the 20th ME and the 69th NY, including our brand new Cpl. Gatley.

We voted as a unit to officially not support Nevada City, but I think quite a few of us will still be going, including myself.  We get to camp on the other side this year, ie. not on the baseball diamond.  We always manage to have fun out there . . . hope to see you!

Fort Point: Last Call

Last minute details for Fort Point:

 

1) An NPS film crew may be onsite to film some footage of reenactors to create a virtual tour of Fort Point! This could be exciting to be a part of, and we will need to look our best!  To help with this, we will want to get some video of reenactors drilling with SIMILAR looking uniforms.  Please bring a basic sack coat, sky blue trousers, and forage cap in addition to whatever you normally bring.  It would help if the units attending can bring their company loaner gear.  

Fort Point

Captain's Corner

Sorry for the late posting.  We've got another Fort Point coming up in a couple weeks.  Just a one day event this time, but Ft. Point is still my absolute favorite event.  If you've been there, you know why.  If you haven't, then maybe it's time to check it out!  More details below.

Also, thanks to everyone who came out to Duncan's Mills.  It was a small turnout, but we all had fun.  We had the group meeting, and here are the results:

• We voted not to buy a musket or a pistol.  We will buy a few "small ticket" items like lanterns and canteens.

Everyone, thanks for your reply.  It's going to be a low turnout at DM, but we are still going to have a lot of fun.  Judie has a special dinner planned for Saturday night.  Everyone who's coming is a seasoned veteran at this point, and with our small size I think we'll get to do some fun tactics and drill.

 

Corporal Election

We have two candidates for corporal: Michael Gatley and Michael Sanders.  I want to elect both of them; they can alternate for the rest of the year.

Cracking the Whip

Guys, I'm getting yelled at by command staff.  I need those rsvp's or they won't give us enough room to put our tents.  Let me know now if you're coming or not.

If you're not, please let me know why.  Is it the extra fee for reenactors?  If that's keeping people away, I'll tell the club leadership about it.  I'm not happy about it either.  DM is one of our best events and I'd hate to see it get ruined because of the stupid fee.  I can take this directly to the Board, but I need to hear it from you first.

Captain's Corner

Thanks to everyone who came out to Roaring Camp.  We had yet another wonderful weekend, with record numbers in the 69th camp, due in no small part to the Butlers and their boy scouts.  Also a shout-out to Zack, who turns out to be a fantastic bugler.  Zack, I'm gonna use you.  Also a shout-out to Private Walker, who has left us for good (see below).

Mini-Election: New Corporal

Our Corporal Josh Zollo has been called up for firefighter duty.  This is great news for him, of course, and we're proud of him for bravely serving our state, but it leaves us without a corporal.  So I'm looking for a volunteer.

This is a light job; there's no work between events, and during events you only have to handle the overflow when James & I have our hands full.  But we're going to have over 20 people on the field at RC and the number is only growing; we really need 3 people on command staff.

We're now three weeks away from the event and I still haven't heard back from most of you.  Command staff will be asking me for a head count, so please let me know if you're coming.

Lost: Last year our Corporal Josh Zollo may have left his poncho at an event.  Has anyone seen it?
